So this is me today…

October was insanity incarnate for me.  Tons of photo sessions (yay, go me!).  Meeting great new people, photographing beautiful children and families and editing my buns off. I was lucky enough to photograph a  Halloween party that totally rocked! Lastly, there was hurricane Sandy.  Evil, evil Sandy.  She threw everyone for a loop.  Power off, HUGE (as my son Burk would say “HUGE HUGE HUGE, so big.”) trees laying across the road, people in nearby towns STILL without power 8 days later.  I had more sessions scheduled this month but Sandy made sure that that didn’t happen (I’m not real fond of her, can you tell?).  Well, whatever, she was a real nasty girl and I hope I never see another storm like her.

It’s now the beginning of November and I can catch my breath while I get ready for Holiday sessions.  November has become my month of  remembering what I’m thankful for.  I am truly, deeply and profoundly thankful that I have found my voice in photography.  After spending most of my aduly life working at a business that was pretty unfulfilling to be honest, I am here, doing something I LOVE LOVE LOVE with all my heart.  So yeah, it’s good to be me.

Fresh baked goodness

Meet John.  He’s pretty awesome.  He’s new in town.  John already has a nickname, it’s Jac.  His family rocks.  Little man was perfect for me.  Truly perfect.  His family was so welcoming and engaging.  I like them. A lot.  If you met them, you would like them too.  Here they are, in all their awesomeness.

Babies, families and a wedding, OH MY!

So I’ve been busy to say the least.  And this is a GOOD THING!  Between my own babies (one not so much a baby anymore)  and all the great sessions I’ve shot lately, I am overloaded!

My most recent session was a wedding, and it was GORGEOUS!  The location was incredibly pretty, the bride was STUNNING, the groom was so genuinely happy to be there and the guests seemed to have such a great time!

The location: http://www.natirar.com/.  Can’t say enough about the beauty of this location.  So many diverse landscapes as backdrops within one park.

I’m still editing this session, but in the meanwhile here are a few of my favorites that I have edited thus far.

This makes me happy

Peas. Something as simple as this makes me happy.  Picked from a local farm, shelling by hand.  Pure and natural.  Shot with a macro attachment.

First Communion

This weekend, my good friend and neighbor hired me to shoot her son Michael’s First Holy Communion.  What a fun, loving family event it was!  I love this family so much!  Her kids play with my kids, we share recipes, share babysittng, it’s an all around win-win to have her as a neighbor.  Her little boy was so cute in his suit, looking all stiff and nervous.  That reminds me; men and boys are HARD to shoot. After a certain age, they start to really freeze in front of the camera.  Mr. Michael started to loosen up, but it wasn’t until the party.  He was champ!!

Bad, bad blogger

Why am I busy?  My daughter is  8 months and my son is almost 3 (how did that happen?!).  They keep me on my toes.  They also keep me busy.  I totally blame them for being such a bad blogger.  It’s okay, they’re young, they can shoulder the blame when they have no idea I’m even blaming them :) .

There are a few things I would like to change on my website and it should be easy considering my husband is partners in a website hosting and content company.  Warning… shamless plug for his awesome business coming in 3, 2, 1… It’s called www.ContentZombies.com and it pretty much rocks.  They will do everything for you, from designing your site, hosting it and even getting your name out there on Google and other search engines.  Neat, huh?

So, you would think the changes on my website would be easy and fast, right? Um, I keep forgetting to ask my husband to actually make the changes.  Once again, it’s my kids.  The blame lies there.  I LOVE spending time with them.. and I mean LOVE.  So at the end of the night and my  littles are asleep and I’m sitting there with my husband, we talk about them.  Because they’re the best.things.ever.

Note to self: Make changes on my website, soon.

Style…

My style is a bit different than others, I accept that.  In fact, I revel in it.  I really don’t sweat the small stuff.  Oh, I get it, I really do.  I understand and KNOW all the minute little things that are supposed to make the “perfect” photograph.  Yet I am not a computer.  I have feelings and emotions.  Each time I go to photograph someone of something, I have a “vision” of what I want it to look like.  It may be grainy and dark or light and airy, but it WILL be unique.   And some might say “Look, that photo is tilted, and the sky is blown (too light), how terrible, that’s just wrong!”.  Wrong to whom I ask?  Not to me, that’s my answer.
